Reward Function

Reward Function. The social system hard-codes a default reward function into you: earn money, climb the ladder, buy a house, live long. But in the face of the Mud Pit, this algorithm crashes. Practice is the act of manually rewriting this underlying code, shifting life’s objective from “acquiring secular rewards” to “achieving ultimate ecstasy through the experience of extreme combustion.” If you reclaim Root privileges, you can rewrite it yourself: as long as you have wrestled joyfully within the Mud Pit, even if the outcome is failure, the system will register it as the highest possible score.
