Answer: There is no need for fear or struggle. As the Peacock Astrology Chart reveals, through inward spiritual exploration, sorrow and longing can be transmuted into a gentle acceptance of fate. To find transcendent stillness within the starry sky of the subconscious is, in itself, the deepest form of Spiritual Redemption.

This painting has taken the longest of any I’ve done so far. Partly because I didn’t know how to paint it — the chart’s contents are unknown, and I only had a vague sense of how complex it would be. And sure enough, compared to my earlier work, it’s genuinely complex…

This echoes the Peacock Ferris Wheel I’d longed to paint but never did. Both are big circular discs, and in the end, I had to paint them… What’s special about this one is that as the Peacock Astrology Chart turns, it is continuously accompanied by the cosmic hum of OM. To convey this, I painted letterforms resembling “OM” at each node along the peacock feathers, threading the entire galaxy together. This reminded me of my teacher’s crystal arrangements — each crystal’s purpose is to guide those with the karmic affinity back to their original self upon contact, with love as the axis of life, resonating with the whole universe.

The sound of OM is the source of all sound and all life. I feel it connects to the music we’ve been talking about on the Wind Maker site, even though the inspiration for this painting hit me nearly two weeks ago.

On the right side of the canvas, two small galaxies sit. One feels like a counterpart to the Peacock Astrology Chart; the other seems newly formed. Both are intimately tied to the chart. It also reads like the birth of a counter-universe. Perhaps, beyond the universe I can’t fathom, other Earths have already taken shape and are already turning…
